Flossa Barney Obituary
Mrs. Flossa Arlene Odneal Barney age 95 of Villa Rica, Georgia formerly from Johnson County, Kansas died Sunday, November 11, 2012. Funeral Services were 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Walters Officiating. Burial followed in the Monticello Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Barney was born August 15, 1917, in Morton County, Kansas the daughter of the late Wade H. Odneal and the late Mrs. Minnie B. Ausmus Odneal. She was married to George F. Barney on February 27, 1939 in Nevada, Missouri by the Justice of the Peace. She graduated high school and attended one year of college. Mrs. Barney taught in the public school system of Nebraska for a few years and attended Monticello Methodist Church of Olathe, Kansas from 1950-2007 until she moved to Villa Rica, Georgia to live with her son and family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Survivors; Son Roger G. Barney and Daughter-in-law Ginny L.Barney of Georgia. Grandchildren: Glenna L. Barney of Georgia; Melody L. Daniel and husband Cliff Daniel of Georgia; Rhonda R. Thomas of Arizona; Gary E. Barney Jr. of Arizona. Great- Grandchildren: Chance Thomas of Arizona; Jonathan Daniel of Georgia; Rebekah Daniel of Georgia; Emma Daniell of Georgia; Maelee Daniell of Georgia. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George F. Barney in 1982 and son Gary E. Barney in 1965.

Flossie and George were such a huge part of my childhood. They were beautiful people. Prayers for all of you.
They were remembered fondly by several people this morning at a class at the Mound City Methodist Churc, including Isabel Read, who at 95 years young, recalls double dating with George and Flossie when they were young.
