Ernest Pintar Obituary

Ernest Pintar

After 83 and one half years spent enjoying God's creation on earth, Ernie Pintar went to his heavenly home on January 23, 2014. Ernie was born July 13, 1930 in Girard, KS, the son of William and Fanny Paver Pintar.

A leftie by birth, Ernie was ambidextrous in the important things of life, like fishing, swinging a hammer, playing cards and holding hands.

As a young man he came to Kansas City to make his life, and it was here that he met and fell in love with his sweetheart, Alice E. Bowman. They were married on Ernie's birthday in 1957 and made their home in Kansas City, KS where they raised their children, Gary and Sandy. They later moved to southeast Leavenworth County where they have lived for the last 15 years, Ernie getting every ounce of pleasure from their 10 acres, his ever present garden (always big enough to share), their pond and garage-mahal.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and attended their Shawnee Campus.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 56 and one half years, Alice, his son Gary Pintar and wife Debbie of Apollo Beach, FL; his daughter Sandy Linville and her husband Mark of Bonner Springs, KS; seven grandchildren, Adam Linville (Christina Maki) of Lawrence, KS, Erin Linville of Prairie Village, KS, Joshua Pintar (Emily) and Christina Pintar of Pensacola, FL, Ashley, Rebekah and Richard Pintar of Apollo Beach, FL; and three great-grandchildren; Charlie Linville, Natalie Pintar and Nathan Pintar. He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Inderweisen of Orlando, FL, and Lena Reid of Kansas City, KS; and one brother, Carl (Mary Ann) Pintar of Pittsburg, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, William Pintar and Albert Pintar.

A celebration of Ernie's life will begin with the family receiving visitors at Trinity Lutheran Church Shawnee (21320 Midland Drive, Shawnee, KS 66218) on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The celebration will continue with the funeral service at the church on Saturday, January 25, at 11:00 a.m. Private burial.

While Ernie's love of plants and flowers and his ability to grow anything he touched is legendary, the family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to Trinity Lutheran Church or KC Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, KCMO 64145.

Sandy,

So sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers for your mom and family. I can't imagine what is like to lose someone you have loved for that many years. The pain must still be so raw. Much love to you all.

Dear Alice, Gary, Sandy and Families:
Bob & I are so sorry to hear of Ernie's passing. We both have such great memories of the many, many times we have spent together. Earnie was just such a wonderful guy and we know that he will be missed terribly by his family, whom he loved dearly and his friends, whom he cared about deeply. Due to our handicaps and not being able to walk for any distance, we will be unable to attend the services but please know that you are all, in our thoughts and prayers.
With Much Love,
Sandi & Bob Laubsch
