Emily Sparks Obituary

Emily Ruth Sparks, 51 of Bel Aire died Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Arkansas City. Pastor David Stanley will officiate.

Emily was born February 23, 1972 to Jerome L. and Laurel R. (Klein) Schones in Arkansas City. She attended Arkansas City schools, graduating from the high school in 1990. She continued her education graduating with an Associate Degree from Cowley College and her Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University. While she was born and raised in Arkansas City, her and Justin spent 12 years living in Lawrence, KS where she became a true fan of the Jayhawks.

Emily was a special friend to so many. Her smile and endearing way would light up any room. She always made those around her feel better. More than anything, she loved being a mom. Whether she was attending dance competitions, sporting events, concerts, movies, or school musicals, nothing made her prouder. From high school sweethearts to lifelong partners, Justin and Emily's love for each other will live on through their family and be a reminder that what is meant to be always finds its way.

She is survived by her husband, Justin Sparks of the home; children, Jade Sparks of Kansas City, Peyton Sparks of Baldwin City and Cale Sparks of Bel Aire; parents, Jerry and Laurel Schones of Arkansas City; mother-in-law, Karen Sparks of Arkansas City; sisters, Amy Jaramillo and Todd of Wichita, Ivy McCray and Jason of Howell of MI; nieces and nephews, Mia Jaramillo of Wichita; Tyler McCray of Kansas City, and Bailey McCray of Wichita; several aunts uncles and cousins and her dog, Charlie.

Emily was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; niece, Gianna Grace Jaramillo; father-in-law; Clint H. Sparks, Jr; brother-in-law, David Sparks; aunt, Emma Klein.

A memorial has been established with St. Vincent DePaul. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Dear Sparks family--
Emily was such a bright light at Deerfield Elementary School. She would often substitute for me as the counselor and was such a compassionate substitute in our building. I loved getting to know her and she loved raving about her children. She loved them so much and it seemed nothing was more important to her than her family. Her smile was warm and inviting and she was never too busy to stop and help in any way she could. She was such a genuine and dear person. I am so sorry to hear of this loss and sending healing prayers and love to the whole family in this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Nicole Bobey

Went on vacation with Emily and her family one summer. Found out she was a really good singer and new the words to many songs. We were singing from pandora app. And had so much fun and tons of laughter I will always cherish that wonderful time we had together. Love you! Uncle James
