Ellen Kay Stewart

Stewart (Blackwell), Ellen Kay, age 66, passed away November 4th, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ellen especially enjoyed spending time with her 12 grandchildren: Stacey and Caleb (Christopher), Cierra, Ivan and Austin (Schnette), Kaylen, Steven and Kamryn (Stephany) and Joshua, Miles, Seth and Nathan (Carmen).

Ellen's family wishes for any contributions to benefit the American Cancer Society, in hopes of saving just one more person's life.

Although I had not seen or talked to Ellen Kay for many years, I still remember the good old days. She lived across the street from my Grandmother and we played together every time I visited my grandmother. We were classmates at East Topeka Jr High and Topeka High School. She was a precious lady. My sincere condolences go out to her family. I know this is a very difficult time for them. May our God help them through this time. Praying for comfort and strength.

Condolences to the Stewart and Blackwell families. I remember when I started with the IRS, Office of Chief Counsel in Kansas City, MO. This was my first professional job and Ellen was the first person I interacted with on my first day. I remember how we were walking to the service center and I asked how long she had been with the Service. I told her that I thought she looked 42 and she laughed because she told me that she already had grandchildren. I was so surprised. Ellen, I hope that you are enjoying yourself in God's graces now and may you rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to Ellen Kay's family. I knew her basically my entire life, from the time our ages were low single digits, growing up in St. John AME. I always thought of Ellen Kay fondly, and will remember her as a beautiful person both in & out. I will also always remember that in high school, her legs looked great in a pair of boots! RIP Ellen Kay
