I say I am a student because Mr. Harrington taught me so much about integrity dignity professionalism. Saw him live and will never forget it. I was about 50 at the time now 64. We chatted briefly. He was so nice and he "cooked" that night. I know he's in Heaven. G-D bless you Eddy

When one possesses a talent and shares it with others it is well appreciated as is evidence of Eddy's accomplishments and the joy he brought others. Family, enjoy your memories of him and trust in the love of God, friends and family to assist you through your grief.

Wise Fool's Pub. He'd walk OUT of the place as he played, so the folks who couldn't get in could see him!

"The Chief" may have performed in venues all over the globe but never was he more welcomed than the night he played at CODA in Joplin, Mo.
(A video of the evening is on-line for all to see yet.) The audience was elated and the showman / musician did not fail to deliver in presenting an outstanding show. It was a terrific event - brought joy to all and now, a delightful memory.
May the Angels in Heaven's Band scoot over 'n make room for their newest member, for 'Clearwater' himself has surely arrived!
Profound condolences to JEFF MORROW - a serious fan / owner of CODA - Joplin, Mo.

A true blues legend. Had the privilege to see him perform several times - always touched your heart and soul and put a smile on your face. The Chief will be sorely missed but never forgotten!

Eddie you have touched the souls and invigorated the spirit of so many people, myself included. I first saw you in a little club on Clark Street in Chicago back in '87, and more recently at Bill's Blues in Evanston about 8 years ago, where I attended Blues School and gained the confidence to get up and play with the encouragement of Tom Crivellone, Yoshi and others. One night I came in and was immediately transformed by your presence in your flashy bright red and yellow suit and shoes. The notes from your Red Gibson stung my ears in the most pleasant way. You were on the floor because the stage was so small. I felt like you were in my living room and it sent shivers down my spine. I immediately forgot about wanting to sign up and play...I just watched with my jaw dropping to the floor and forgot about myself for a good long while. Thank goodness the Blues can connect someone to the rest of the musical universe that way.
More recently I saw you in the grocery store with your wonderful wife Rene, and ran out to the parking lot to grab my Telecaster for you to sign. I had to buy a Sharpie at the checkout, and then tracked you down by the yogurt section. You and Rene had an Angel Food Cake in your shopping cart because you are a true Angel of the Blues. May your wings take your far and wide across the Universe. Love and Peace to you always!

The blues industry won't be the same without Eddy's fingers on the guitar, my goodness he could play the blues and gospel music, such a great musician. His gift will be missed, but he left us with his essence.....MUCH LOVE❤

I saw Eddy Clearwater perform live in Fort Wayne Indiana back in 1984 or 1985 and when the band was on break at the bar, I offered to buy them a round, which they let me do, and then invited me to sit with them and chat during their break. I saw them at least two or three more times in Fort Wayne and each time the guys would invite me back to have a drink with them during their intermission. I was telling some friends about this in Lafayette Indiana when we were watching them perform at a bar called Nicks on the Levee. I could tell the guys I was with were skeptical when I told them I had had a drink with the band several times and just about then, one of the other guys in the band, Will the guitarist, walked by and said "Hey, Fort Wayne." He then said "Come on back with me, Eddy and the guys will be glad to see you." I always appreciated Eddy and the guys allowing me to share those few opportunities to sit and chat with them so long ago and for treating me so warmly even though I was just guy in the audience enjoying the music. Eddy Clearwater was a treat to see perform live and always looked like he enjoyed what he was doing. May God have mercy on his soul and welcome him into Heaven. I will say a pray for Eddy and for the loved ones he has left behind.
