E. Chapman Obituary

E. Charles Chapman II (Chuck) left his earthly body and joined his heavenly family on August 29th at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Chuck was born on February 13, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles Richard and Donna Lois Chapman. He moved to Tonganoxie with his family at the age of 2. He attended Tonganoxie High School and went on to graduate from the University of Kansas. He was employed at Masons greenhouse in Linwood Kansas until he suffered a massive heart attack in 2009. Nine months later, on his 49th birthday he was gifted a new heart. That gift allowed him 12 more years of life in which he lived to the fullest. Eventually he returned to work. This time at Westlake Hardware in Lawrence Ks where he continued to be employed until the time of his death.

Chuck was a huge Jayhawk fan. He loved music, nature, spending time with hanging with friends. He was our "go to guy" when we had questions about horticulture or family history. He was energetic and often on the move, but he was also a master at being content with a good book or good music.

Chuck was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and beloved niece Jennifer Bartlett.

Chuck is survived by Charles Ross Chapman, Tonganoxie KS, brother Rick Chapman and wife Melanie, Tonganoxie KS, sister, Cathy Chapman and husband Ray Kuntz of Lake Lotawana, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

Generously, Chuck has gifted his body to KU Medical Center for medical research. A memorial/celebration of life will be held at a later date.
