Dorothy Williams Obituary

Dorothy Dean Williams died October 31, 2024. Her husband of 71 years, Wesley, proceeded her in death on August 31, 2024. Dorothy grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Susie and Charlie Tustin. Her parents owned and operated an ice cream plant called PICCO (Pittsburg Ice Cream Co) where Dorothy worked many years as a soda jerk. She attended Pittsburg Teacher College where she met Wesley H. Williams. They were married after college and Dorothy went to work teaching school in Pittsburg and Wes went to the army. Throughout Dorothy and Wes' career, they both were elementary school teachers and taught different grade levels in many places in Kansas.

Dorothy was the mother of two children. Son, Michael Williams, wife Judi, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and daughter Gaile Stephens, of Lawrence, Kansas. Grandchildren of Michael and Judi are Allison, Olivia, and Harrison Williams. Grand-daughter of Gaile is Shannon Stephens and great-grand-daughter Freya.

Dorothy and Wes have traveled many wonderful places over the years. They moved to Lawrence Kansas in 1969 and to Brandon Woods in 2012 and lived well. They were members of Plymouth Congregational Church for 50+ years.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
