Dorothy Gile Obituary

Dorothy M. Gile (Bierce), 97, loving wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 23, 2022. She was born February 10, 1925 in Oakley, KS to Ruth and Bruce Bierce.

Dorothy met the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) in 1945 and the two were united in marriage after a short courtship. They shared a love of sports and followed their children and grandchildren all over the country attending their activities and events. She had a particular love of baseball and followed the KC Royals after many years of being season ticket holders. She was a KU basketball fan, never missing a game, and she loved to travel. Dorothy had a love for animals, particularly her dogs, and a love for Colorado and the mountains. She lived every day to the fullest. She was most proud of all of her grandkids. Her family was her everything. She spent most of her time as a mother and home maker. She did work outside the home as the kids got older for Henry's Department Store.

She was preceded in death by husband Gerald, sister Dean Davidson, twin brothers Don and Ron Bierce, son Mark Gile, grandsons Tom Gile and Nicholas Gile, and great granddaughter Bayli Lowmaster.

She is survived by children Harlan (Kelly) Gile of Haysville, KS, Nancy (Nunie) Coleman of Wichita, KS, Galen (Sandy) Gile of Foley, AL, Jeff Gile of Azle, TX, and Susan Gile (wife of Mark Gile) of Lawrence, KS. 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will held at a later date at Harvest Community Church, Wichita, KS. Memorials have been established with The Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N Hillside St, Wichita, KS 67219 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
