Dolores Moseley Obituary

Dolores was born September 12, 1950 in Sandwich, IL, the daughter of Everett and Ruth Teal. She moved to Kansas in 1971 and lived in Lawrence much of her life. She passed away at the age of 67 on May 14, 2018.

Dolores was an advocate for the victims of crime and physical abuse. In her 30 years working for the Douglas County District Attorney, Dolores touched thousands of people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Dolores received several awards for her groundbreaking work advocating for victims and the rights of women.

Dolores' long-standing work with the DA's office made her a fixture in our law enforcement community.

Dolores is survived by her children, Bill Moseley, Mark Moseley and Amy Moseley; four sisters Juanita Furtado, Linda Renc, Mary O'Benar and Alice Moseley; as well as four grandchildren.

Dolores requested a small, family observance of her passing.

It's been a year that Dolores has been gone, I really miss her. I still expect her to phone and I still want to phone her. I've added a photo of some of us sisters--

I worked with Dolores at Watkins Memorial, so knew her for over 35 years. Once Dolores was your friend, she was your friend for life. Might not see her for years and then we picked up right where we left off, usually laughing. Saw her last in 2014 on my way through Lawrence. I loved her laugh, her sense of humor and miss her. Goodbye my funny friend.

The things we remember about people after they leave us - I remember Dolores' laugh and I remember her famous deviled eggs. Of course, I remember much more. She was never too busy to listen. She was loved and appreciated by many, many people who needed her and by many who just plain enjoyed her friendship and her sense of humor. Rest well, my friend.

Bill, Mark and Amy - I was shocked to hear that Dolores passed away. You may remember that she was my and Eds friend when you all were very young, before she worked at the DAs Office. The first time I met her she told me about you three, how much she loved you and how lucky she was to have you in her life. Besides our personal friendship, I was fortunate to work with her for 20+ years. As many others have noted, she was a compassionate yet fierce advocate for the many many victims of often horrendous crimes. I dont think she was aware of how many people cared for her or the strong impact she had on the people she helped. I know losing her is hard and painful for you the 3 of you as well as Dolores sisters. Sending peace and love to you all. Phyllis and Ed Payne
