Diana Myers Obituary

Diana Jean Myers (née Rissman), age 78, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, in Meriden, Kansas. Born on November 10, 1946, in Lawrence, Kansas, Diana led a life marked by dedication to her family and community.

She graduated from Lawrence High School and attended Emporia State University. Diana began her professional career at Douglas County Bank before discovering her passion for working with children. As a school secretary for USD 497, she served at New York Elementary and Riverside Elementary Schools, where she built lasting connections with students and staff.

Diana's entrepreneurial spirit led her to open the Before and After Children's and Maternity Clothing store. Later, she and her husband Jim owned and operated Myers Retail Liquor store for over twenty years, a venture that reflected their strong partnership.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Jim; daughter Amy and son-in-law Patrick; her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Gigi; and her beloved sister Linda. Diana also cherished lifelong friendships that were like family to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lois Rissman; her cherished sister Dorothy; and some dear friends.

Diana was a proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority and the Douglas County Master Gardeners. Her love for animals was evident throughout her life and above all, she loved her family and helping to raise her grandchildren. Diana went out of her way to show kindness and support to everyone she met.

A memorial service celebrating Diana's life will be held with family and friends at the Depot in North Lawrence on November 7, 2025, at 5 pm. Donations in her honor may be made to the Lawrence Humane Society or Cottonwood Inc.
