Dennis "Corkey" Goodden passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Bridgehaven Memory Care Home after struggling with a long illiness, Lewy Body Dementia a Parkinsons Disease.

He was an honest and loving husband and father. He shared his talents at Art, jewelry design, gardening, history and law with countless family and friends through his 71 years.

His humor, kindness and gentle ideals inspired many and he will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Myra Strother, his daughter, Virginia Goodden Strother; his son, Kendall Strother Goodden and his brother, Rickie Goodden.

Dennis and I were roommates in NYC in 1972-3. A real odd couple scenario as I was pretty much all over the place and Corkey was Corkey. Nevertheless I convinced him to study Martial Arts with me at the Hung Dojo on the upper east side. He was pretty game and got his yellow belt, all the while questioning the logic of it all. A great friend.

To the family of our great friend and tutor counselor,
May you have peace in knowing he is not suffering anymore. He was a great guy and helped those of us from our days in UMKC-Upward Bound program to achieve more in our lives than we had hoped too. May God Comfort You

So very sorry for your loss, Ricki. I am praying for peace and strength for you and your family. These illnesses are very frustrating as you see them go down hill. He is at peace now and I am sure he would want the same for you and his family. God bless. Carolyn
