Delbert Hamby Obituary

Delbert "Dane" D. Hamby, age 85, of Bonner Springs and previously of Lawrence, Kansas passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at home. Visitation will be Noon to 1pm followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 1pm, both Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.

Delbert, and his twin brother were born on July 6th, 1933 in Stockton, Missouri as the second youngest of seven children born to Claude & Emma (McBride) Hamby. Delbert attended schools in Stockton before moving to Hutchinson, Kansas with his family while he was still a young boy. He married Patricia McKenzie on November 18, 1974 in Miami, Oklahoma. Delbert had a career of over 30 years with Lawrence Paper Company. He enjoyed going camping and fishing with family and friends, but most of all he loved time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Myrl, Dorothy, Joe, Darriel, and his twin brother Gilbert, by his wife Pat, and one son Gordon. Survivors include his children; Vic Hamby, El Lena Blanton and her husband Jarron of the home, Larry Hamby and wife DeAnn, and Judy Nash. One sister Florence Thorington of Hutchinson, KS., five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. As well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
