David Powell Obituary

David A. Powell, age 71, passed away at his home in Waterford on September 22, 2012. He was born in Erie on March 24, 1941, son of the late Bailey and Kathryn Middleton Powell. David lived in Waterford all of his life and was a graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School. He was always proud of the fact that he was an active baseball, basketball, and football player with his many friends. After high school he worked as a carpenter for Orie and Harold Mack and Don Gradler, and he built his own home. He then went to work at United Parcel Service driving package truck and semi, retiring after 31 years of service. David loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and woodsman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Nancy, and an older brother, Bill Powell in 2008. David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Darlene Borland Powell; his son, Keith Powell, and grandchildren, Austin and Carley, all of Lutz, Fla.; his daughter, Jennifer Powell Thor, and son-in-law Erik Thor of Waterford, and his very special grandson and sidekick, Cody Powell, also of Waterford. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Powell and his wife Vera of Cambridge Springs; sister-in-law Mary Powell of Waterford; brothers-in-law, Mick Borland and wife Sue of Platea, John Borland III and wife Nancy of Platea, and Larry Borland and friend BJ of Lake City; also, many nieces and nephews and friends. Friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon in Dave's memory on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Hall on the Park and West 3rd Street in Waterford.
