Daniel Moore Obituary

Daniel Casey Moore, 52, passed peacefully on December 1st, 2022, at Overland Park Regional Hospital, surrounded by loving friends and family.

Casey was born on February 3rd, 1970, in Dallas, Texas to Molly Mulloy and Philip Austin Moore. Needless to say, he was a lifelong and VERY passionate Cowboys fan! Casey resided in Kansas (Wichita, Lawrence, and Overland Park) most of his life with the exciting and adventurous exception of Saipan, Mariana Islands, from 1975-'79. In Saipan, he happily discovered a love of all things the beautiful Pacific Island could offer: salty breeze, blue ocean and warm sand.

Casey certainly lived a full life at full throttle. At age 5 he took apart the family vacuum cleaner – and put it back together! It only got better from there, to remote control planes and about a dozen Porsche 911's he rebuilt and "raced" down secluded country roads. His natural ability and passion for how "fun" things worked kept his life energized and full. He greatly enjoyed his 34-year computer career as an innovative IT professional for several Kansas City companies.

Casey's greatest passion, however, was his son, Stephen Moore (21), of whom he was very proud. They were best friends and spent many happy hours together driving/riding in Porsches, sharing a mutual love of hobbies, or just hanging out. Casey was married twice, first to Stephanie Coon, Stephen's mother, and later to Leigh Ann Lantis, mother of his stepson Joe Lantis.

Casey loved to get up early and make his famous Eggs Benedict for Steve and any other guests that happened by. His second calling was in the kitchen or back yard on the smoker where he made incredible BBQ worthy of the city, he called home. This was followed closely by his entertaining mimicry talent, especially impersonations of actor Christopher Walken and comedian Jim Breuer. Friends and family laughed until we cried on numerous occasions while enjoying the wonderful aroma of Casey's cooking and his hilarious humor.

Casey is survived by his son, Stephen, of the home; by his stepson, Joe Lantis, Ottawa; his mother, Molly Mulloy, Lawrence KS; his father, Philip Moore (Debby), Celina, TX; his brother Michael Kelly Moore and nephew Ethan, Carlsbad, CA; his sister Susan (Michael) Turrentine, Basehor, KS; brother David Oxandale, and nieces London, Lily and Adeline Oxandale of Overland Park, KS; brother Zach Moore (Leah) of Eastchester, NY; stepbrother Richard Claypool, Celina, TX; his closest friends Fred Todd, Chris Randolph, and Kyle Walker plus aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Casey's name may be made for his surviving son, Stephen Moore, c/o Warren McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St, Lawrence KS 66044. There will be no formal service; his organs were donated to Midwest Transplant Network. Ashes will be distributed later at some of his favorite places. A celebration for family and friends will be held in the spring with Casey's favorite BBQ and music.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dan while working together at examinetics. He was funny, caring and had a larger than life personality.

I pray for his family and friends!
