Dane Hill Obituary

Dane Greyson Hill transitioned into his eternal life unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Dane was born on Saturday, October 1, 1988 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. Dane was the seventh born child to Dr. John H. Hill II and Debra "Lee" Wastell Hill.

Dane attended Lawrence public schools. He completed a General Studies Associate's degree from Johnson County Community College in May 2014. Dane's talents were in the arts. He was an actor, artist and writer. He began his acting career by starring in a documentary movie shown at the Sundance Film Festival. Dane was finishing his autobiography that was planned for publishing. Dane's creative interests also included jewelry making. He shared a passion for the outdoors with his dad which included "catch and release" fishing and upland bird hunting. Dane was competitive enough to often say he caught the most fish and believed he seldom missed a bird. He had a unique and special gift for humor in which he could have pursued as a "one-man stand-up comedy" show but not enough time to do it all!

Dane Greyson had such a big heart with intense love for his family. He was a devoted son, sibling, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Dane was especially dedicated to his three nieces and eleven nephews. They gave him profound joy in every moment he shared with them.

Survivors include his parents Dr. and Mrs. John H. Hill II of Lawrence, his five siblings: sister Angel (Paul) Nuzum, children Avery, Camden, Emersyn of Lawrence; brother John H. Hill III (Lindsay); children John H. Hill IV, Hudson of Fort Scott; sister Alyssa (Scott) Cleland, children Caden, Flynn, Bennett of Lenexa; sister Micaela (Chris) McKenna, children Bryer, Easton of Lenexa; sister Jillian (Robert) Geiger, children Charlotte, Robert Jr., Graham, Gavin of Denton, TX.

Maternal grandfather Dr. Lee A. Wastell (Carolyn) of Las Vegas, NV. Maternal Aunts are Jeannie (Doug) Maryott & family of Wichita, Diantha (Don) Voge of Custer, SD, Lori (Eric) Stevenson & family of Topeka, KS. Paternal Uncle Mike (Marion) Hill and family of Lutz, FL; Aunt Cindy (Bruce) Walquist and family of Cleburne, TX.

Dane's large family circle included several generations of cousins and great aunts and uncles. Dane was preceded in death by his brother Brandon James Hill, maternal grandparents Fran and Louis Guth and paternal Grandparents Faye and Dr. John H. Hill Sr.

A private service is planned, and arrangements are with Warrenmcelwain.com.

I never had the privilege of knowing Dane as an adult, but I know that losing a child at any age is heartbreakingly unthinkable. I am thinking of your loving family and am so glad for your mutual support of each other.
