Dale Rodney Regier was born in Hillsboro, Kansas on May 30, 1945 to parents, Dr. Herold and Linda Ann Regier. He attended Lawrence High School participating and lettering notably in track and field and football, graduating in 1963. He was a National Merit High School Scholar and attended Kansas University graduating with a sociology degree in 1967. He then attended graduate school at Florida State University graduating with a Master's Degree in Urban Planning, doing his internship in Washington D.C.
He was independently employed doing private investing while tending to the care of his mother in Lawrence for an extended period prior to her passing in 1996. Dale died peacefully at home of heart disease in September of this year in Lawrence following his recovery from a stroke which befell him the prior year. Parents, Herold, who passed on in 1980, and Linda, welcome him to his new forever home. Dale, whose character was shaped by his Mennonite family's upbringing, was known for being a gentle giant with good humor and goodwill toward all. He will be sorely missed by friends and family.
He is survived by his younger brother, Joseph Regier, and his wife Alexis of Annapolis, MD, a niece of their marriage, Allie-Lane F. Regier of Durham, NC and Aunt Carol W. Harris Regier of Brevard, NC.
A graveside service for friends and family will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by life-long friend Unitarian Universalist Minister, Paul (Buzz) Hull. The family asks that expressions of remembrance and sympathy be directed to the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Joe, so sorry for your loss of Dale. Hope you and family are doing well. Dale was one of my childhood hero's as a lineman who played both ways for Lawrence High and was a great shot-putter and as I recall, the discus as well. I talked with him just before Dad died a few years ago and we had a great reminisce of all our early years...swimming at Helga's etc. A gentle giant if there ever was one.
