Cynthia Shaw Obituary

Cynthia B. Shaw, 82, Lawrence, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Cynthia was born September 27, 1935 in Sterling, KS the daughter of Ralph Raymond and Naomi (McPherson) Blackhall. Ralph passed away when Cynthia was two years old. Her mother later married Dwight W. Buel, who was significant in raising Cynthia. Cynthia's grandfather, W. J. Blackhall taught her bird identification, a life-long interest of Cynthia's.

Cynthia matriculated at Rice County Country School, Sterling, KS High School, and the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She taught elementary school in the Lawrence school system.

She married Edward Shaw on June 27 1980 in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2017.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Jennifer Shaw, Campobello, SC Sandra Shaw, Arlington, TX; son, Jay Blackhall Clinton, Thurston, MI; stepson, Daniel and wife, Margarite Shaw, Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Joseph Shaw, Lawrence, William Shaw, Shannon Shaw, all of Denver, CO and Samuel Shaw, Lawrence; and two nieces, Traci Phillips, Brentwood, TN and Sharon Phillips Kauerz, Memphis, TN. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Janice Blackhall Phillips.
