Cynthia Knight Obituary

Cynthia Lynn Knight (formerly Cynthia Stockdale), age 66, of Baldwin City, KS passed away peacefully at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 5th, 2021.

Cyndi was born on June 9th, 1955, in Kansas City, MO. Robert Stockdale and Marilynn (Miles) Stockdale later moved their two children to Hill City, KS, where Bob served as the Postmaster and Marilynn as an administrator of the local hospital. Cyndi graduated Hill City High School and proudly attended Dodge City Community College and received her LPN, then attended Butler Community College and received her RN, then finally graduated from the University of Saint Mary with a Bachelor of Nursing.

Cyndi married the love of her life, Dennis Allen Knight on August 7th, 1981, in Branson MO. The couple raised three children in Augusta, Kansas and Mountain Home, Arkansas, before settling in Baldwin City, Kansas over two decades ago, to be closer to family and friends.

Cyndi was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to be called "Granny" by her grandchildren. Cyndi was tremendously talented, a member of Mensa and loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. A true Christian, Cyndi welcomed anyone to her home and dinner table.

As a devoted Christian, Cyndi frequented church when able, but believed that "God will meet you where you are". Cyndi served others and her local community by dedicating her life to healthcare; and spent her career in hospitals in Wichita, KS, Mountain Home, AK, and finally Lawrence, KS as the Director of ICU. She was passionate about cooking, baking, sewing, games and reading.

Cyndi was known for her relentless generosity, good sense of humor; her contagious laugh and smile; her unwavering strength; and her unique ability to connect with people in a soulful way.

Her spirit and life cannot possibly be summed in the words on this page; so "the life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living", Marcus Tullis Cicero.
