Clifford Matthews Obituary

Mr. Clifford Matthews was born February 2, 1939, to the union of Mark H. Matthews and Susie Jane Brown in Tonganoxie, KS. He was the sixth child. His mother, father, 4 brothers and 3 sisters preceded him in death.

Clifford was educated in the public school system in Tonganoxie, Kansas. He furthered his education at Ottawa University. He confessed his faith in Christ in 1971 at the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist church.

He was drafted in the US Army and served two years. On December 22, 1963, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Elizabeth Oliver and to this union five children were born. Jason Matthews and Tamiko Matthews-Merriwether preceded him in death. Marietta Matthews (granddaughter) also preceded him in death.

Clifford was employed by the Ford Motor Company where he retired in 1996. He was a quiet family man. He enjoyed working by himself because he felt no one could do it quite like he could. He liked to reminisce by listening to old songs in the quietness of his basement.
