Clarence "Bud" B. Long, Jr.

1927 - 2013

Clarence "Bud" Long, Jr. died on October 19, 2013 of complications from a stroke. He was born on December 8, 1927 in Pe Ell, WA to Clarence and Daisy (Tucker) Long.

He served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a skinner saw operator at Bohemia Veneer and Lumber Mill, and also worked at the Booth-Kelly sawmill. After he retired he continued keeping busy by cutting wood for everyone.

He also did fire and equipment watching for Bruce Stewart. He enjoyed hunting, watching car races of all kinds, boat racing (Sprint boats were his favorite), camping, fishing, and especially spending time with his family and his dog, who was his Babe and best companion. He lived most of his life up in Dorena, and enjoyed helping family and friends.

He married Joyce Hamlow in Cottage Grove in 1949. She preceded him in death in 1953. He later married Sharon Weddel in Cottage Grove on May 28, 1954. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2007.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Michael Morelock of Cottage Grove; daughter, Virginia Long of Creswell; daughter, Pamela Long; son, David Long; son, Clarence B. Long III; and daughter, Jennifer Long, all of Cottage Grove; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Jessica Long in 2008.

A Funeral will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, 3:00 p.m., at Smith-Lund-Mills Chapel in Cottage Grove. There will be a potluck reception following the service. Burial will be in Fir Grove Cemetery.
