Cindy Schrandt Obituary

Cindy peacefully left this life on June 25, 2025, wearing her favorite KU t-shirt to bed. She loved Mexican food, her family and laughing at the antics on the Bachelor. Born in Seminole, TX to Silas E. and Leona A. Camp, she grew up in Springfield, CO. She earned a bachelor's degree from Colorado State while working fulltime as a single mother. After retirement from the Arizona Department of Revenue, where she worked as an auditor, she moved to Lawrence, KS in 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vic Camp. Survivors include son Jeff, of Surprise, AZ., daughter Heidi (Dan) Simon of Lawrence, KS and their sons: Cooper, Jackson and Parker. Other survivors include niece, Shaylene (Marvin) Rosencrans of Longmont, CO and their sons: Logan and Luke; nephew Mitch Camp, of Longmont, CO, an uncle and many loving cousins.

Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys. She cherished time with family and friends, especially Reba Seward, sharing life stories, laughs and lunches. She enjoyed playing bridge and talking on the phone for hours with lifelong friends. She was as creative as she was kind, with a keen eye for decorating. Her family will miss her laugh and phone signoff (mmmbye) but what will most be missed is her sweet spirit, unconditional love and support. She was fiercely loyal, her stubbornness was endearing (if at times maddening), and her ability to make the best of whatever life threw at her is something from which we can all learn. She was tough, surviving breast cancer, Valley Fever, Jeff's adolescence and Heidi's marriage to Dan.

A celebration of life is planned for 10am, July 7 at the Clinton Lake Marina. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests support in her memory of the KU Cancer Center-where Heidi was successfully treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma, with Cindy at Heidi's side throughout her treatment, at www.kuendowment.org/give.
