Born in Egypt, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary (Hamulas) Ballas. She was a desk clerk for many years at the Whitehall Library.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlisle and a former member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Whitehall.
Surviving is a daughter, Theresa Marie, wife of David Hummel of Carlisle with whom she resided. Sons, Richard J. Jr. of Whitehall, Stephen Mazzeo of Flagler Beach, FL, and Thomas Mazzeo of Allentown; sisters, Gloria Ballas and Dolores Anthony, both of Allentown; a brother-in-law, Bill Volkert of Allentown. There are eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was pre deceased by a brother, Thomas and a sister Eleanor Volkert.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 7, in St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Whitehall at 10:00 AM. Calling hours will be on Friday from 9-10:00AM in the Church.
Contributions may be sent to St. Elizabeth Building Fund.
