Charlotte Andervich Obituary

Charlotte Ann Andervich

Charlotte Andervich passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, at Providence Medical Center. She defeated cancer once, but was unable to do so the second time the disease came to her. While we will miss her every day, we take comfort that she is no longer in pain, and that she awaits her family and friends in Heaven.

Charlotte Ann (Wuertley) Andervich was born on April 4, 1943 in Belleville, Illinois to E. Howard and Ruth (Foulk) Wuertley. In 1947, the family moved to Summersville, Missouri, to the family farm. After graduating from high school Charlotte attended St John's School of Nursing in Springfield. She graduated in 1965 and followed her mother's footsteps into nursing, becoming a registered nurse.

Shortly after graduation from St. John's, she moved to Kansas City to begin her nursing career, most of which was at Providence Medical Center, where she worked for the last 37 years of her career. She was a nurse in the Outpatient Department for many years.

Charlotte was also an active volunteer. She became involved in Wyandotte County 4-H when her children joined in 1980, and remained active long after they graduated from the program. She was a Community Leader for Chaparral 4-H Club for more than 30 years, a long-time leader for the 4-H Horse Project in Wyandotte County, and served for many years on the board of the Wyandotte County Fair Association.

Charlotte married David Andervich in 1969 in Kansas City, Kansas, and they had been married for 46 years at the time of her passing.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, David, of the home; daughter Nancy of Kansas City, Kansas, and daughter Stephanie of Cleveland, Missouri; siblings Muriel (Walter) Shriver of Ozark, Missouri; Charles (Brenda) Wuertley of Summersville, Missouri; and Donald Wuertley of Ozark, Missouri; and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Howard and Ruth Wuertley; her older brother, Marshall Wuertley; and two nephews, Edwin Wuertley and Michael Wuertley. The Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Wed. 10/14 at St.Mary/St.Anthony Catholic Church, 615 N. 7th St., KC,KS with burial following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30 to 8:00 PM Tues, 10/13 at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th St., KC,KS. The family would appreciate donations to Wyandotte County Fair Assoc. or to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 E. 56th St., 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022. Condolences: www.skradskifh-kc.com

Charlotte was so kind as she administered my chemotherapy and made me comfortable. She related to my situation and told me how she had gotten past her first bout with cancer. I will always be grateful for her compassionate care and down to earth attitude. My deepest sympathies go out to you, her family, on the loss of this noble woman.

Charlotte was a huge part of my 4-H career. She taught all of us so much, and dedicated a lot of her time to us kids. Thank you, Charlotte. It meant so much that you came to my moms visitation. Your family is in my prayers.

Charlotte was the biggest asset to Wyandotte Co 4H. She showed compassion, concern and pride in every 4H youth she worked with. Charlotte was an exceptional leader, doing what was best for the 4H youth, not for political or personal gain. She was a true gem in Wyandotte Co. RIP Charlotte and thank you for your support!

We will miss Charlotte so much, but we are thankful she is now safe in the arms of Jesus where there is no pain. One of my best memories, having been across the street neighbors for 30-years, is Charlotte ringing the front door bell every year days before Christmas with her home-made peanut brittle candy for our family to enjoy. She was one of a kind, precious and gifted, generous and compassionate. What a privilege to have known her. We know God's comfort is surrounding Dave & her girls.
