I know this is late, but I am writing some reflections and looked up Charlie. I knew him in the first part of the 1970s. We Sufi danced together. He led the group. He was warm, loving and funny. I often think of that energy, even today. Rest in peace dear friend.

I am sorry to hear of Charles' passing. We met when I bought an investment home in Lawrence and from that point on we occasionally referred business to each other. He always had a quirky, fun sense of humor.

Charles helped me buy/sell several homes since 1998, and he always made my heart smile! He certainly added brightness and joy, he had a special spirit that will be missed.

Charles used to manage an 8 plex that I lived in. He was a very nice man. I always enjoyed chatting with him when he would stop by. My thoughts go out to his family.

This life would not have been the same without Charles. I'm better, funnier, and more at home with the essential weirdness of life than I would have been otherwise. I'm blessed that we were friends.

A Portrait of My Father's Hand

Charles was my father's twin brother. They couldn't have been more different, but in those differences, they seemed to complete each other. A favorite recent memory of my uncle: we were visiting with Charles in April. I've always noticed that my hands look just like my father's hands, and then by definition (because they were identical twins) just like my uncles hands. I took a picture of our hands together and Charles said, "Let's compose a poem about it." Such a very Charles thing to say! We called it "A portrait of my Father's Hand".

Recalling good memories of Charles and Khabira - I used to take my various VWs to Charles' shop on 9th St - he was always genuinely friendly. Later I took a chanting class from him in a storefront space downtown (maybe Anne Adams Yoga Place) - I met Khabira in Susan Miller's Womens Meditation group.... these are all wonderful memories. My heart is with you, Charles and with all your family and many friends. Gloria Throe
