Carolyn Patitucci Obituary

Carolyn Sue Patitucci passed away on August 2, 2017. Her passing was sudden and unexpected by those who love her. Born in Clarksburg, WV to Frank Gross and Gertrude Kobis Jacobowicz on December 16, 1940, Carolyn and her family settled in Vineland, NJ. She married John Chambers Adams, also of Vineland, and the couple had three children, Carol Lynn, Lori Ann and John Michael Adams. Carolyn worked at Wilmad Glass Factory in Buena, NJ for many years until she retired. She married Frank Patitucci in November 26 of 1988 in Buena, NJ and after the couple retired, moved and settled in Lawrence, KS to be near their oldest daughter. They remained married for 29 years. She is survived by her husband Frank D. Patitucci, daughter Dr. Carol Lynn Adams and daughter-in-law Jennifer Adams (Lawrence, KS), daughter Lori Ann Sunday and her partner Stan MacDonald (East Concord, VT) and son John Michael Adams and his wife Linda Adams (Vineland, NJ), step-son Dominick Patitucci and daughter-in-law Anna Patitucci (Rosenhayne, NJ), step-daughter Kimberly Patitucci Carbone and son-in-law Martin Carbone (Hopewell, NJ). Son-in-law Mark Sunday is deceased. She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Elaine Patitucci, her granddaughters Paige Sunday (affianced to Josh Borland, Lisbon Falls, ME) and Rhiannon Sunday (and partner Jon Miller, Mays Landing, NJ), and grandsons Daniel Eli James Adams (engaged to Melissa Davis, Missouri), John Michael Adams Jr. (NJ) and Mark Sunday Jr. (NJ). Carolyn is also survived by the Patitucci grandchildren, Dominick Salvatore, Alexandria, and Gianna, the Carbone grandchildren, Martin Jr. and Nicholas, and the Johnson grandchildren, Jeremy and Courtney (children of Jennifer Adams). She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews in NJ.

Carolyn was loved by many and she in turn, loved her family very much. She was fun loving, kind and generous, had a wonderful sense of humor and was well known to tease and joke around with others. She loved spending time at the Jersey and Florida shores, enjoyed traveling with family and to visit family, taking long drives with her husband around Kansas, always stopping for french fries and an iced tea, reading about Lawrence, Kansas history, watching old cowboy movies and pampering her many lifetime pets. She was also a wonderful and loving pet grandmother and loved visiting the Lawrence Humane Society to see all the animals. Shopping for clothes, shoes and jewelry were some of her favorite past-times, especially during her Saturday outings with her daughter. She came to love living in Lawrence and made a regular habit of driving through downtown on a regular basis, always surprised by the number of college students walking around and seeing so many young people with their children and babies. She was always up for an adventure. Her passing is such a huge loss for the many family and friends who loved her and her beloved dachshund Chloe. While her memory was faded at times, her spirit never diminished. She will be greatly missed and no doubt resides in Heaven, at peace with all the loved ones who have gone before her. The Angels are happy she is home.

Anyone interested in making a memorial donation in her name can donate to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

A memorial service is being scheduled in her New Jersey hometown in the coming weeks.
