Caroline Sue Goss

Caroline Sue Goss, age 83, of Lawrence, Kansas, joined the house of the Lord on March 6, 2014. She was born March 24, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Preston Loyce and Edna Katherine Hathcock.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ira Vernon Parsons; her second husband, Al Goss and her youngest son, Christopher Ira Parsons.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in music from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas and was a member of Tri Delta.

She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels in Lawrence, Kansas. She was a GQ charter member of GQ of PEO in Lawrence and a member of Chapter K in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church since March 1993. Caroline was an active member of the Asbury Sunday School Class and an XYZ participant. She was also a volunteer at Headquarters in Lawrence, Kansas and was a crisis call worker. Caroline taught piano lessons in Lawrence and she loved music, art, nature and spending time with loved ones.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Parsons of Lawrence, Kansas and Dave Parsons and his wife Vicki of Shawnee, Kansas; six step-children and their families; a brother, Reverend Philip Loyce Hathcock and his family of Maumelle, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Meredith Bliss, Richard, Michael and Jeffrey Parsons and April Malcolm and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation was under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. A reception at the church will follow the memorial service.

Having known Caroline for a few years, after being Chris' friend for over a decade, I now understand why my friends often visited my mom even when I was not around. Love and prayers to you all.
