Carol Gates Obituary
Carol married Norman B. Gates in 1954. They raised a family and traveled the globe in service with the United States Army. She was a member of Chapter GQ of PEO in Lawrence. An avid seamstress, she made clothing, quilts, banners, purses, and stuffed animals over the years for family, friends and loved ones. A crafty lady, she also knitted, made cross-stitch pictures and developed this interest in her own children by making projects together like hooked rugs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman B. Gates in 2008, her parents; Howard A. Jester and Tempie V. Woods, sister, Maurine Brenton and daughter, Gwen Gates. Carol is survived by four children; Sandy, Brian, Eric and Dana, their spouses; Paul Lipham and Katrissa Gates, grandchildren; Laurell Sims, Malia (Jason) Nace, Jessie Adams, Katie Adams, Karamia (Cody) Martinez, Kami Gates, and great-grandchildren; Sam Sims-Barouch, Jackson Nace, Joel Nace, Kyler Martinez, sisters-in-law; Marilyn Hite and Marian Swain and many nieces, and nephews.
She was a resident of Tecumseh, Kansas and a member of East Side Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at East Side Baptist Church. Private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to East Side Baptist Church, 4425 SE 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66605.

I am so happy for Carol to join Norm, Gwen and our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a wonderful woman, mother, wife, Christian. My thoughts for all of her family is to celebrate her life and journey home.
