Betty McCandless

Betty McCandless, 84, died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Windsor care facility.

Betty was born May 14, 1928, in Kansas City, MO. She moved to Lawrence in 2008 and became a member of First Presbyterian Church. While living in Kansas City, she was an active member of the Eastern Star and sang in the choirs at Westport Presbyterian and Independence Boulevard Christian churches.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred Snare, brother Joseph Jr. and husband Harrison McCandless. She and her husband ran an insurance company in Kansas City, MO, for many years.

Mrs. McCandless is survived by two brothers, Lee Snare of LaGrange Park, IL, and Maurice Snare of Garden City, MO; four children, Carolyn Woodling of Lawrence, KS; Marolyn Lewis of Salem, OR; Jim McCandless of Arcata, CA; and Cheri Wolcott of Escondido, CA, and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City, MO., with burial to follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
