Betty Grisham Obituary
Betty R. Grisham, age 91 of Basehor, Kansas passed away on December 25, 2013 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at the Basehor United Methodist Church with burial following in the Glenwood Cemetery near Basehor. The family received friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service also at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Basehor United Methodist Church or the Basehor VFW both in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
Betty was born on June 20, 1922 in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Brauer Grade School as the Valedictorian for all of Wyandotte County. She went on to graduate from Basehor Rural High School in 1941 where she met Clyde Grisham whom she later married. Betty was a member of the Basehor Baptist Church and later a member of the Basehor United Methodist Church. She had worked in an Abstract Office during WWII and baked pies for two different restaurants. Betty also worked at Hallmark Cards, Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and Puritian-Bennett Mfg. During her retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Betty was proud to say she had visited all 50 states while crocheting along the way. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Bessie Blankenship, brother William O. Wheeler, sister Lorraine Freeman and two granddaughters Melanie Hubbel and Catherine Grisham. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Wilbur Grisham of the home, four children Gene Grisham and wife Connie of Gladstone, MO., Beth Couch and husband Merle of DeSoto, KS., Marty Hubbel and husband Glen and Paul Grisham and wife Ann all of Norman, OK., cousin Jane Zolotor and husband Ron of Excelsior Springs, Mo., nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one on the way. Thank you Mom, for your wonderful life, you will be in our hearts forever. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant".

Wilbur and family, I am so sorry for the loss of Betty. I was out of the state until last night and did not know of her passing. But what an honor to celebrate Jesus birthday with him. To the family. I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Betty a long time. Lately we would see each other at the post office. I always teased her about being little red riding hood with her red hooded coat. She was a sweet lady and lived a good life.
