She was an accomplished artist in a wide variety of mediums and disciplines, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, ceramics, silver smithing, pastel, pencil, batik, weaving, charcoal portraits, ink and stone carving. She attended art classes at Washburn University from 1956-1966, and Kansas University in 1968.

Aside from her artistic talents, Betsy was an avid gardener, and attended to her koi fish pond daily. She was passionate for cooking, KU basketball, and of course her family.

I always enjoyed talking to Betsy at Heartland Farm when I visited. She was full of curiosity and interest. I loved reading about her life and some of the things I didn't know about her. My thoughts go out to her family as they adjust to her having moved on. Peace be with you all.

Betsy played the female lead in "Strictly Out to Lunch" for me back in the sixties. Her sons, Alan and Kim, were involved in tech, and I was looking for someone to play "Agnes." They said their mom would be perfect. And she was. She was always full of energy. She energized the cast and crew. She knew how to get a laugh, too. I smile just thinking about her.

I haven't seen Betsy for probably 45 years or so but I remember her well. Her sweetness and charm were beautiful.

Deepest condolences extended to Alan, Kim, Joie, and family. Betsy was certainly her own person- a one of a kind who will be missed.

I was blessed to know Betsy for the last four years. Looking back on memories...here are her words on my 29th birthday, "I am so happy to have you in my life! Thank you Hagen! I have wanted to know you better ever since we met on my birthday, what two years ago. What fun the Christmas it snowed, and your jeans were frozen on you. You must know how much I love Hagen and now I have you to love too. Happy many birthdays and I want to be part of them. New-grandma Betsy"

Betsy was a bundle of incredibly creative energy! Although I didn't spend a lot of time with her, when I did, it was always a joy. Her personality was up front and electric. She will be missed by so many in the community.
