Bernice Alexander Obituary

Bernice Betti L. Alexander, 94 of Lawrence, Kansas passed away January 14th, 2012 at a Lawrence, Kansas nursing home. Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 19th, 2012 at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation was from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 with the family present from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Betti was born March 5th, 1917 in Worcester, Mass, the daughter of Albert H and Esther (Brackett) Ladue. Betti graduated from high school and then attended one year of college. Betti married Col. Leland Alex Guy Alexander in on July 28th, 1944 in Schenectady, New York. He preceded her in death on November 12th, 2005. She then married Joseph McLaughlin in Lawrence, Kansas, he preceded her in death in February of 2011. Betti was a professional ballet dancer and instructor, and taught dance for many years, until she was married and then became a homemaker. Betti was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and gave of her time at the Army Community Service and Thrift Shop, along with 26 years of giving of her time at the Army Hospital. She is survived by two daughters; Cherie Orth and her husband Jim of Council Grove, Kansas, and Diane Trueblood and her husband Ray of Parker, Colorado. Five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Hazel Trainor. Memorials in her name may be directed to donors choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Belden-Larkin Funeral Home and Cremation Services. I have never met such an enthusiastic and funny woman. She had the heart of a child and was such an amazingly sweet woman. I knew her and Joe through working at BW's and I just loved how they interacted with each other. May they RIP in the loving arms of our heavenly father.

Betty was a lovely, sharing woman. It was a joy working with her as a volunteer at the hospital on Ft Leavenworth. May you all feel peace.
