Memorial Services for Bernard D. Turnbaugh of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 3:00 P.M., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence, Kansas. Military Honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, KS.

Bernard passed away February 14, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 77. He was born June 7, 1936, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Lawrence and Virginia Downs Turnbaugh. He married Dotty and worked as a Health Care Administrator. Bernard was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. Bernard lived in Mountain Home since 2004, moving from Lawrence, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing on the White and Buffalo Rivers as well as his coffee and cigars.

Bernard is survived by his son, Don (Nataliya) Turnbaugh of Kansas, MO; daughter, Carrie (Ben) Mugridge of Lawrence, KS; six grandchildren, Joshua (Christina) Peach of Ft. Riley, KS, Kindra Sutton of Colorado Springs, CO, Madilyn Mugridge of Lawrence, KS, Dalton Mugridge of Lawrence, KS, Grace Anne Strouse of Pittsburg, KS and Daniel Meyer of Kansas City, MO; four great-grandchildren, Chase Peach, Anabella Peach, Maleah Sutton and Mariah Sutton; sister, Pat Keller of Olathe, KS and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dotty and brother, Lawrence Leon (Sonny) Turnbaugh.

The family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

Thoughts are with you. I worked in one of the nursing homes that Bernie supervised, and enjoyed working with him. Just this week I had met someone that worked for Bernie in western Kansas and we shared fond memories.
