To the Stedham Family,
On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on Austin's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. The SUBVETS will have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Austin, who earned his 'fish' when he qualified on USS QUEENFISH SS-393 in 1948, will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin and a great Patriot.

I have such fond memories of Austin. As my father (Lefty McDonough) aged and his health deteriorated Austin would always come to see him and would take him places when he could. I hope they are hitting their longest golf balls together. Her was a great man. My thoughts are with all of you.

Susan and family. I am so saddened to learn of Austin's passing. He was a kind and generous man who supported me personally and professionally in his role as CEO of Sierra Pacific Power. After his retirement, I always enjoyed seeing him and talking with him at the annual PGA golf tournament. He was a family man in every sense, and treated the employees of Sierra Pacific in the same way. My heartfelt sympathy.

Austin was a member of the Board of Directors for the Nevada Area Council, BSA during all the years I worked there. He was dedicated to his responsibilities and I will always remember him as an honest, caring person willing to help in any way he could.
