Okay, Anne, irreverent recollections it shall be. I have clear memories of some epic parties that were borderline R-Rated, especially our caravan ski trip to Aspen. I remember your faux modesty, your laughter, and your warmth. I also remember your unbridled joy during a New Years Eve party when my inebriated brother-in-law attempted to strip me naked for going to bed early, and you observing and laughing and cajoling. The parts of your life that I shared included laughter, daring, irony, and real connections with those around you. You brightened our gatherings of friends. You had fun while working hard to reach your potential. RIP, Anne. And give my sister Julie and your dear friend Judy hugs for me when you see them. You were an intrepid trio of young women—all trailblazers.

I didn't meet Anne until late in her life, but even at that point she was a bundle of life and energy. And she was one of the sweetest women I have ever known and a wonderful friend. This world is a poorer place without her. Sail away, dear friend, sail away.

Dear Todd, Derek, and families,
By happenstance, I chatted with Anne's former daughter-in-law Courtney Coolidge at the Santa Fe market here in Point Richmond about mid-west beef's high quality. She asked where I was from, I answered Topeka, Kansas. She asked if I knew Anne Garlinghouse, and I said, yes, since I was 3 years old. Courtney put us back in touch and we saw each other whenever she came to visit her son Todd. Talk about kismet! Her obituary describes Anne perfectly. Kudos to the author.
