Al was one of a kind! During our senior year at Ward High Al would come by my house blaring his Mercury car horn and yelling as loud as he could, "can Johnny come out and play". The whole neighborhood would come out their front doors to gawk at him. A visit to Al's parental home was always an adventure. I learned some cuss words I'd never heard before and that was from his parents. I was in awe!
The first Super Bowl fell on my eighteenth birthday, Jan. 15 1967. Of course the Chiefs were in that one and so we all met at Al's parents' house to watch the game. What a party, best birthday ever, thanks to Al and his wild parents. Here's to you Brother!
