Alan Holmes Obituary
Alan Melvin Holmes passed away January 17th, 2015. He was born April 4th, 1934, in Vinland, KS to Esther Honor (Johnson) Holmes and Melvin Edgar Holmes. They preceded him in death. In 1969 he married Mary Lou (Wanamaker) Holmes, she survives of the home. They made their home in Baldwin City where they raised three daughters, Aimee Black, Ottawa, KS, Mindy Holmes (Brett Martin), Baldwin City, KS and Sheri Holmes (Tom Kellogg), Lawrence, KS. Other survivors include sister Freda Holmes, Baldwin City, KS and brother Larry Holmes (Janet), Haysville, KS; 6 grandchildren, Amber Black, Aubrey Black, Ariel Black, Akoda Black, Drake Martin, Wesley Martin; and 3 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life and pot luck dinner is planned for January 24, 2015, noon, at Legion Hall, Baldwin City, KS. Please bring a side dish and join the family in remembering Alan's 80 years of life. Memorials may be made to Douglas County Senior Services or Grace Hospice at the Celebration of Life.
