Vera Jeanette Swank, known affectionately as Joyce, passed away on July 6, 2024, in Grass Valley, CA, at the age of 82. Born on May 2, 1942, in St. Joseph, MO, Joyce was a beacon of joy and love throughout her life, embodying qualities of kindness, generosity, and a perpetual zest for fun.

Joyce attended Central High School in St. Joseph, MO, and later embraced various roles that showcased her nurturing and entrepreneurial spirit. She dedicated many years as a stay-at-home mom, enriching the lives of her children with unwavering support and love. Additionally, Joyce worked in banking before venturing into business ownership, where she continued to influence those around her positively.

A woman of faith, Joyce was a devoted member of the Pioneer United Methodist Church in Auburn, CA. Her commitment to her community was evident in her active participation in church activities and her joy in serving others.

Her hobbies included crocheting, needlework, sewing, and engaging in home DIY projects. Joyce also loved gardening, going to the gym, and above all, dedicating time and effort to her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Joyce leaves behind a loving family: daughters Lori Hansen (David), Martha Williams, Tracy Mohar (David), and Tammy Kelley (David); son Todd Swank (Sheri); siblings Tom Swoboda (Bobbie), Rachel Caruthers, and Gloria Thomas (Dean); 13 grandchildren; Ryan, Morrigan, Austin, Terryn, Alan, Logan, Bailey, Mallory, Lindsay, Lauren, Brittany, Luke and Avery. Also 9 great grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Verna Swoboda, her "fella", Bill Connor, and her husband, Robert C. Swank.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Pioneer United Methodist Church, 1338 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA, Saturday August 3rd, at noon. Lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Stein and Sons of Auburn, CA, are handling the arrangements. The service will also be available on Zoom, more info to come.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joyce's memory can be made to the Pioneer United Methodist Church in Auburn, CA, honoring her commitment to her faith and community. Joyce's legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on through the countless lives she touched.
