Jesse Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 24, 2024.
Jesse Davis, 87, passed away on June 15, 2024, in Milford, Texas.

Jesse was in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1955. He worked for the City of Odessa, Texas some, but enjoyed being a truck driver for most of his life. He stayed close to home with short hauls when his family was young, and did long haul driving later in his career. Jesse possessed a loving soul, a strong work ethic, and a true joy of spending time with his friends and family. His life and memory will always aid in producing a smile and admiration in the hearts of those that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roe Allon Davis and Ara Faye Hawley Davis: by four siblings, Nelda Davis Wilkinson, Bobby G. Davis, Mark A. Davis, and Freddie Davis; as well as by his daughter-in-law, MJ Walker Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Walker Davis, who shared his every breath and heartbeat since their marriage 66 years ago on November 22, 1957.

He is also survived by sister, Peggy Davis, and sister-in-law, Gay Davis; by his children, Lonnie & Cindy Davis, Jimmy Davis, and Bobby Davis; by his grandchildren, Katie Davis Martinez, Karissa Davis Pokluda, Addie Wemhoff and Eli Davis; and by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

How every time I saw him he pulled a quarter out of my ear! I thought he was magic.

I loved every minute I was able to spend with Uncle Jesse and Aunt Sarah. When I look back over happy childhood memories they often involved those two. He always made me laugh and smile. Love you always. You will be greatly missed.

Jesse dressed as a clown at a birthday party when we were very young. He aways liked to make others smile. He is greatly missed. Love you Uncle Jesse!

Uncle Jesse was the best. Always a joke or an encouraging word when they were needed. He and I had this thing about 2 bathrooms. He thought it was hilarious that he had 2 and I didn't when we lived in Texas, but when we moved to Tennessee that wasn't the case anymore and he said we were even now. Loved this man to the moon and back. I will greatly miss him.
