ROY KOUNS Obituary

Roy Milton Kouns, 90, Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday May 12, 2013 at Northcare Hospice Care. A private family gathering was held to celebrate his life at Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS. Roy was born July 17, 1922 in Fall City, NE the son of Clifford and Edna (Parsons) Kouns. He moved to Gladstone, MO from Des Moines, IA in 1968 with AT&T where he retired in 1985. Unable to serve during WWII he worked as a telegraph operator and switch man in Burlington, IA for the Burlington Railroad which began his lifelong love of trains. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Cleo Hageman Kouns of Diagonal, IA. Survivors include: two sisters, Edna Mae Neman of Omaha, NE and Helen Ruth Vanous of Denver, CO; three daughters, Linda Hanson, Las Vegas, NV, Diane Pick, Liberty, MO, Michele 'Micki" David, Parkville, MO; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grand daughters. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Northcare Hospice Care 2800 Clay Edwards Dr. Kansas City, MO 64116.
