Mary Jane (Koebel) Russell, 95, passed away peacefully at her daughter, Jill's (Cindy) home in Gallatin, Tenn., on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, with her daughter, Jill by her side holding her hand.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Vernie and Marguerite Koebel; her three sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty (Bill) Eisenhart; Margie (Dick) Dunn; Lois (Murray) Miller; her son, Kim Vern Russell; and her daughter, Karen Sue (Russell) Roach.
Mary is survived by her children: John Frederick Russell (Jon), of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Dannie Ray (Cherri) Russell of Odom, Texas, Jill Marie Russell (Cindy) from Gallatin; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews, and her grand cats and grand dogs.
Mary spent many years as a stay-at-home mom and in 1968, went to work at F&M Bank in Benton Harbor. After 33 years with the bank, Mary decided it was time to retire. She moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 2001 and where she loved living. At the age of 75, Mary learned how to golf and she loved it! She would golf three to four times a week and even golfed in some scrambles and tournaments.
Mary moved to Gallatin in February of 2021 with her daughter, Jill (Cindy) lived another four great years where she enjoyed baking, cooking, sitting on the porch and swimming in the pool. Mary also enjoyed going to concerts and plays in Music City USA, Nashville.
Family and friends are welcome to visit from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Pastor Bill Zebell will be officiating Mary's celebration of life service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, www.acs.org, or the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
Mary was loved by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; co-workers; friends and neighbors, but most of all by her children who will miss her dearly.
Rest in peace Mary, rest in peace. Rest in peace Aunt Mary, rest in peace. Rest in peace mom, rest in peace.
