Myrna Weightman Obituary
Myrna graduated in 1955 from Langley High School and in 1960 obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Slippery Rock State Teachers College. After obtaining her college degree, she taught elementary school in the Butler Area, Clairton City, and Connellsville Area Public School Districts. Myrna retired after 40 years of service as a public school teacher. She was a life member of the Fayette County Association of School Retirees, Pleasant Valley Country Club and Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame.
Myrna enjoyed family, traveling and shopping. She especially treasured the time that she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Another special activity was playing cards with her bridge group of 54 plus years. Additionally, Myrna was a big supporter of all types of sporting events with basketball, football, baseball, golf and archery topping the list of her favorites. Lastly, she was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast which stemmed from her many interest as a lifelong learner.
Myrna is survived by her daughter Sherry Locke and her husband Kenneth, grandchildren Elizabeth Locke Wisniewski and her husband Steve, Jared Locke and his wife Allison, Ryan Locke and Kassidy LaRocca, great grandchildren Quinn, Mara, Jackson Wisniewski, Olivia and Julia Locke and sister Josephine Cherewko along with many nieces, nephews, good friends, teaching colleagues and neighbors.
In addition to her parents and husband, Myrna was predeceased by her sister Mary Ann Gensler. Family and friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. Thursday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where services will be held on Friday at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Lee Maley officiating. INterment will follow in GReen Ridge memorial Park, Pennsville.
