Karin Hanus Obituary

Clinton, formerly Janesville, WI - Karin E. Hanus, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on an anniversary trip to Arizona, on Monday, March 16, 2026. She was born Oct. 25, 1979, in Tennessee, an only child of Philip W. and Jane R. (Thompson) Rosten. On April 12th, 1997, she married the love of her life, John N. Hanus in Janesville, WI.

Karin was proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher, always putting her family first. She was also an incredible, loyal friend. If you had her friendship, you knew you were loved. Karin not only loved her friends, but she dearly loved her friends' children. She was an intellect to the fullest and had amazing wit, and memory.

She was a collector of hobbies, enthusiastic about bringing something back from any travel destination (magnets, mugs, shirts, etc), enjoyed classical music and had an endless knowledge of trivia. She was a Foodie in the truest sense of the word.

Karin had a tender servant's heart, always noticing a need someone had, and made sure to help fulfill that need. She attended River Hills Church, Janesville.

Karin is survived by her husband, John Hanus; children: Ashleigh Hanus, Aimee Hanus, Rozalynn Gohre, Ellyanna Anderson, Aleczandria (Joel) Norquay, Abigael Hanus, Jaymes Hanus, Ameliah Hanus, and Jonas Hanus; grandchildren: Elias and Charlotte Norquay. She is further survived by a loving and large Hanus family. Karin was preceded in death by a son John N. Hanus, Jr.; her parents: Philip and Jane Rosten; grandparents: Bert and Marlette Thompson, and Philip Sr. and Ellen Rosten; and brother-in-law Tyler Schimke.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at RIVER HILL CHURCH, 2843 W Court St, Janesville, with Pastor Steve Krug, on Friday, March 27, 2026. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Mar. 26, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, Janesville and again on Friday at CHURCH from 9:30 AM to time of service.
