Williard Bratton Obituary

Willard D. Bratton, 88, of Philipsburg RD, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at his home.

Born November 7, 1935 in Philipsburg, he was a son of Lloyd J. and Mary (Robbins) Bratton.

Willard was a graduate of Philipsburg High School and a veteran of the US Army. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from the strip mines and was the owner of Bratton's Carpet Install for many years.

Willard was a member of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd and was a life member of the Lincoln Slovak Club. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR races and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On February 1, 1962 in Cumberland, Maryland, he married Donna L. Kasnick, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2010.

Willard will be deeply missed by his children Joseph Bratton of Hawk Run, Diane Wesesky and husband Christopher of Philipsburg, and Jason Bratton and wife Kim of Philipsburg; six grandchildren Daniel Bratton, David Wesesky and wife Jennifer, Christina Knepp and husband Claye, Aaron Dotts and significant other Sydnie, Olyvia Bratton and significant other Michal and Zachary Bratton and significant other Morgan, three step grandchildren Joshua Chambers, Jalee Lovejoy and Julia Franklin; three great grandchildren Michael, Iris, Clover and one on the way arriving in September; and six step great grandchildren Gage, Mallori, Alexis, Trinity, Herby and Penny.

Willard is also survived by a brother Ken Bratton and his wife Edith of Philipsburg, a sister Beverly Warren of State College and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Daniel Bratton on February 27, 2015, a brother Raymond Bratton and a sister Grace Sunday.

Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Sunday, June 23 from 1-2pm.

A memorial service will follow at 2pm with Fr. William J. Ellis officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Ashcroft Cemetery, Hawk Run.
