Andrew Fleshman Obituary

Andrew Bruce Fleshman Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and veteran passed away on February 5, 2026, in Frederick, Maryland, on his 83rd birthday.

Born on February 5, 1943, in Princeton, West Virginia, Andrew spent much of his life in Maryland, residing in Bowie for 42 years before spending the last 16 years of his life in New Market and Frederick.

Andrew proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service and after graduating from Concord College, he continued his commitment to fellow veterans through a career with the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he was honored to support those who had served.

Andrew's greatest joy was time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He made every effort to watch as many of their sporting events as possible-moments that brought him immense happiness.

Andrew's interests reflected both his adventurous spirit and his love of history. He enjoyed sailing and singing and was deeply interested in genealogy and Civil War history. A devoted sports fan, he faithfully followed the Washington Redskins and the Washington Nationals.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Bonita Plank Fleshman; daughter, Rebecca Jay (Stephen); son, Brian Fleshman (Nicole); grandchildren, Matthew Jay, Ryan Jay, and Megan Jay; sister, Sarah Hopwood (Geoff); sisters-in-law, Mary Jean Plank Corbelli and Ellen Plank; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD, where a celebration of Andrew's life journey will take place at 2 pm. Rev. Tim May will officiate.
