Ramona P. Prough, 95, of Goshen, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at Goshen Hospital.
She was born June 14, 1929, in Goshen to Donald R. and Pearl C. (Bickel) Marty. They preceded her in death.
Ramona was happily married Aug. 2, 1953, to Robert "Bob" Prough until his death in 1997. She was a dedicated farmer's wife.
Survivors include daughters, Laurie (Kenn) Lehman, Angola and Marlys Prough, Syracuse; grandchildren, Morgan (Aaron) Turner, Troy Lehman, and Kara (fiancé Noah Saltsman) Pounds; and many close lifetime friends.
A 1947 graduate of Millersburg High School, Ramona went on to earn her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Ball State University. She loved teaching and was a long-time elementary teacher for Middlebury and Millersburg schools.
She was member of the former St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Millersburg, where she was active teaching Sunday school, and served on the church counsel. She later attended First English Lutheran Church in Goshen.
Ramona was an avid reader and life-long learner. She enjoyed knitting, spending time outside, and being around animals. She was a wonderful cook and conversationalist, with a quick wit and a sharp mind. She enjoyed being with friends and family.
Visitation will be Friday, March 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10:30 a.m. funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 8. Pastor Jeffrey Teeple will officiate.
Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.
Memorial gifts may be directed to ADEC or Iris Family Support Center, Fort Wayne.
