Sandra Sevier Obituary

Sandra Stevens Sevier of Arlington, Texas passed away on March 23, 2026.



Born to Alexandria and Nichols Stevens, Sandy grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated from Carl Schurz High School. Her academic journey continued at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she earned her undergraduate degree in English. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She later pursued her passion for literature by obtaining a master's degree in English from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.



Sandy had a unique upbringing, raised by Russian immigrant parents with 3 siblings in downtown Chicago. One of her favorite memories was hopping on the "L" Train in the summers with her friends to watch the Cubs play. One of her earliest jobs was working summers at Marshall Field's in the hosiery department during her college years. After receiving her masters, in the late 1960s, she began teaching school in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the early 1970s, she moved to Washington D.C., where she worked for the Civil Service Commission. There she met Walter Sevier, whom she later married and had two children. They moved to Texas.



Sandy was deeply engaged with the Arlington community and cherished the friendships she built over the years. She was an active member of the Interbrook Women's Club and the Association of University Women and participated enthusiastically in a local book club. Her love for gardening and working in her yard brought beauty to her surroundings and joy to those who visited.



Sandy found great happiness spending time with her Porto Bello Court and Interlochen neighbors. She especially looked forward to decorating her home for Christmas each year-a tradition that brought cheer to all who passed by. Friday social hours and gatherings with her GNO (Girls Night Out) ladies group were among her favorite times.



She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Katy Bock (Lawrence), and by her son Wally Sevier. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Nick Stevens (Barbara)and Paul Stevens (Barbara)and sister Helen Goldrick (John).



May Sandy's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
