Edward S. Washburn III

May 26, 1930 - March 15, 2026

Leander, Texas - Edward Stephenson Washburn III, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 95.

Edward was born on May 26, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Beatrice Morse Washburn and Edward Stephenson Washburn II. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Southwest High School and later received a BA from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He enlisted in the army during the Korean conflict.

In 1953, he married Bettie Lou Ogan at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Their first child, Deborah Sue, was born in 1954. Their second child, Dan Murray, was born in 1958. He and his family moved to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1962.

He enjoyed a career in business management for 57 years. He was an Eagle Scout and served as Boy Scout Master, an avid gardener and a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Bettie Lou; brother, Stephen; sister-in-law, Patricia; and granddaughter, Wendy Love.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Brad Love); son, Dan Washburn; grandson, Caleb Washburn; brothers, Kenneth (Ann Washburn) and Christopher Washburn.
