Deana grew up in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1959. She went on to graduate from Texas Tech University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. While at Texas Tech, she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Deana was known for her positive spirit and her deep commitment to living out her faith through service to others. She was actively involved in her church communities, including Wilton Baptist Church in Wilton, CT, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed meaningfully to both the life of the church and its outreach. Her dedication to caring for others extended into her professional life, serving for many years as Assistant Administrator of Ogden House, an independent apartment facility for senior citizens and non-elderly disabled or handicapped individuals. After moving to Fort Worth, she became a faithful member of Agape Baptist Church. Above all, she found her greatest joy in her family-supporting her sons and cherishing time spent with her grandchildren.
Deana is survived by Charles, her husband of 63 years; her sons, Paul (Serena Sanders) of Salt Lake City, UT; Michael (Amy) of Charlotte, NC; David (Julie) of Greenbrae, CA; and her five grandchildren, Lily, Catherine, Cody, Avery, and Finley Jones. She is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Shipman and her family of Carrollton, TX; her brother, Barry McNeil (Melissa) and their family of Dallas, TX. Deana was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Scott McNeil.
A memorial service will be held on April 25 at 12:00 PM in Greenwood's Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76107. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception at Greenwood in the Live Oak Reception Room.
