It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Theresa Yvonne "Tee" Morris, who departed this life peacefully on January 22, 2026, at the age of 72. Theresa was born on January 8, 1954, in
Chicago, Illinois (Cook County), to the late James Oden and Cornelia Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Bloise Oden and Robbie Patterson Oden. A proud Chicago native, Theresa cherished her roots and often spoke lovingly of growing up in the city she called home. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1972, earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Chicago Community College, and later attended CACC for cosmetology. Theresa was a woman of service and dedication throughout her life. Her career included work as an insurance agent, a bank teller, and a dispatcher with the Sylacauga Police Department. One of her greatest joys was working at the Verlie Collins Recreation Center, where she poured love and guidance into the youth of the Drew Court community and surrounding areas. A faithful servant of God, Theresa was an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the Inspirational Choir and served faithfully as President of the Mt. Zion Deaconess Wives. Theresa was the true cornerstone of her family-lovingly known as the family "manager." She was the organizer, planner, and heart behind countless family gatherings, trips, and cruises. She loved to travel, especially to Chicago, where she delighted in sharing stories, food, and memories with family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing and took special pride in teaching her grandchildren how to fish, creating memories they will cherish forever. Above all, Theresa was a caregiver at heart-strong, compassionate, organized, and endlessly loving. She had a remarkable way of keeping everyone's life in order with both warmth and precision. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of over 45 years, Danny C. Morris; her loving daughter, Tracy K. Galloway; her son, Danny Q. Morris Jr. (Danielle); and her three treasured grandsons, Gabriel Galloway, Ayden Lewis, and Danny A. Morris III. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael Lewis of
Chicago, Illinois, and James "Jimmy" Oden of Florida; her sisters, Aletha Lewis Pope (Michael) of
Sylacauga, Alabama, Darlene Lewis of
Sylacauga, Alabama, Christine Lewis of
Chicago, Illinois, and Carla Oden of California; her beloved nieces, Makisha Pope and Doreen Carter; nephews, Martee Pope (Brittany) and Laxmastro Hall; her special sister-in-law, Winnie Mae Strong (Fletcher); her dear friend, Frances Gaffney; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends whom she loved dearly. Theresa Yvonne Morris leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and family devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
