Anthony "Tony" John Swim

April 10, 1972 - September 9, 2024

Anthony "Tony" John Swim, 52, of Camanche, Iowa died unexpectedly in his home on, September 9, 2024.

A celebration of life will take place in Fulton, IL, at Denny O's from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Lemke Funeral Home is assisting the family during this difficult time and Tony was cremated with burial at future date.

Tony was born April 10, 1972, in Clinton, Iowa to John Calvin Swim and Dolores "Lori" (Hoffmann) Swim. Tony attended North Scott and Camanche schools, and graduated in 1991 from Camanche High School.

Tony was united in marriage 2001 to Sanae Yasuda Swim in a traditional Shinto Marriage Ceremony in Gifu, Japan.

Tony was a skilled man, and when in high school at North Scott assisted Bud Nagle and the maintenance staff during his summers working on the district's schools and facilities. Tony found a love for Commercial HVAC, and moved to St Petersburg Florida, working in maintenance and management of beach hotels. Tony earned a Florida Commercial Contractors certification for HVAC and became a government contractor often working all over the world including Dubai, Qatar, Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti Africa and Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Tony was a well-loved, social guy who could strike up a conversation with anyone and before long have them singing a song and dancing with him. He had so many friends but some were more like brothers to him including his closest friends Stan Shoop, Lonnie Melchiori, Larry Thein, Kip Simpson, Matt Potter and Shane Edwards. Second Families Linda and Tom Kramer, Jen; Bob and Joan Grant, Katie…really all of his friends' families. The list of dear friends could go on forever and he loved you all so dearly but you know it because he never failed to tell you, be a shoulder to lean on, lend a helping hand or give you a big Tony Hug.

Tony is survived by his wife, Sanae Yasuda Swim of Gifu, Japan. His siblings Joni Huetter (Dennis) Polly of Wylie, TX; Garth Huetter of Camanche, IA; Sabra Huetter (Scott Stubblefield) Petersen; Jeffery (Vicky) Swim of St Petersburg, FL and Wanda Swim (John) Strunk of Clinton, IA. Tony was proud to be an uncle and great uncle, survived by his nieces and nephews here in the US as well as Japan - Martin, Heather, Jessie, Nick, Justin, Shawn, Scott, Karlee, Dustin and Morgan and all the little ones. Tony loved his family being a cousin and nephew, and his many aunts, uncles and cousins he leaves in the wake of love Aunts: LeEllen Hoffmann "Lonni" Meyer of Dewitt, Iowa, Janice Hoffmann Richardson of Kalona, IA, Lois Swim (Jim) Risney of Tulsa, Ok and Uncle Fred Swim of Bettendorf, IA.

He is preceded in death by his child, his parents John and Lori Swim, His grandparents John and Latisha Swim, Clarence and Beatrice Hoffmann, Aunts: Eleanor Olson, Katherine Matthiesen, Carelyn Dann. Uncles: John Dann and David Swim. Cousins: Alex Matthiensen and Terry Russell.

Memorials can be made directed to the family and mailed or dropped off at Lemke Funeral Homes.

This is a bit odd, but I am going through my parents (deceased) paperwork. I have two Stock certificates made out to Calvin Swim dated late 1930. I am wondering if there is a tie to Anthony's family and if they would be interested in receiving them.

This Absolutely Breaks My Heart! Tony you will be so very missed! I loved hearing your story about being overseas! I was not just your driver to tour appointments!! We became good friends! The love you had for your family was Awesome! Fly High Tony!!
